Phil Osopher - His BackgroundAs one get's older - much older, it is not reasonable that people should presume that one has nothing to offer. All aged persons are not doddering old twits. It really is a shame that many young people, meeting a senior citizen and finding him/her much slower than they, overlook the possibilities generated by many years of experience. A general object of this web page is to right that wrong.
It happens that I have had a very complex and unusual life and have learned many lessons; the first of these being to think for myself. This lesson was learned when I was only 6 or 7 years of age at primary school. Since then my ability to think for myself has become a habit, resulting in many benefits to my career. If it is not too late, you might benefit too. My life's story embraces the high-speed environment of being a jet-fighter pilot; many years as an electrical engineer, an engineering designer and a projects manager in the bulk handling industry, leading to being the Managing Director of the Technical Bureau of Mechanization and Automation (UK) Ltd. This was tempered by a total change of lifestyle by living remote in the Scottish Highlands followed some years later by the Highlands of Malaysia where I re-opened a defunct upmarket hotel. This mix, punctuated by many dramas - including the trauma of a near-death experience of a head-on car smash, of being burned-out in a bush-fire to the north of Sydney, would have driven most wives mad but through all the ups and downs in over 60 years of harmonious marriage the greatest discovery made by this team of two is, not only are troubles shared troubles halved, but also the joys we have shared are definitely joys doubled. Our maxim for life has been:
When life has taken a turn for the worse, Don't bemoan, don't you curse Go forward, seek your star - start again from where you are |
